Snowman Building

So we both ended up with the opportunity to stay home and work from home. We decided to take a break and do something productive :-) We jointly built this guy (although I have to say it was me that added the finishing touches) I think we should name him Stan....

Yes, those are pecans for eyes, a brazilian nut for the nose and cashews for the mouth....this was Walter's great solution, I was stumped and couldn't stand a faceless snowman....he came to the rescue!! :-D

679 more pages to go!

So I finally finished my first book that I am using to study for the CPA exam!!! Yay! Although I feel better about the knowledge I read about, I don't feel any more comfortable about taking a 5 hour exam! I am sooo nervous, luckily the company I am using gave me a CD with like 2,000 more questions....I am sure that after these I should be much more prepared....hopefully. Now I am moving on to the next book....(thus the 679 more pages)....Hopefully it will be easier as it is a subject I am more familiar with Business Environment and Concepts. There's like 5 chapters about information technology.....this should be easy, I had like 5 classes in college about this! hehe! I just am soo paranoid I will have to repeat the exam....I don't know if I can handle that....well if I pass at least one of the two tests I take on Jan 6th, I will be one step closer to my dream!

Popcorn Kitty

Thought we could share something a bit more uplifting.

When she hears the air popper start, she is there circling you feet until you sit and she's got her nose right in the air sniffing. She's even been known to stick her little paw in the bowl and try to get some out herself if we haven't given her enough :-)

Job Update

So....it would probably be a good idea to let all of you know what is going on and how things have been this last week.

Starting right away, Walter was on the computer updating his resume and looking for jobs online and calling people he had some sort of connection with to help him search. We are going to collect unemployment (good for like 6 months, but Walter doesn't want to be out that long!!!) He is still waiting for that final call from his employer (the contracting company) that says they can't find him any work, but he's not just sittin' around waitin'. Boy! oh boy! He is looking hard and very diligently for something else, looking for like 4-5hours a nite so diligent :-). He's trying to get away from contract jobs, but that's the majority of jobs right now in the tech industry. So far as to date, he has applied to 16 jobs....I don't think he likes not really having a job....I keep finding things at home for him to do :-)

As far as we go, we will be fine. We have looked at our finances and we should be good for at least 6-9 months if for some reason he is unable to find a job (which is unlikely because there's always Office Depot...again :-)). I work full time and my steady income will definitely take care of most of our bills....no worries! :-)

We will be fine, we are looking at this as an opportunity for growth and learning. I have been through a strike with my parents a few years back and things were tight when we first got married, so we know how to cut back and tighten our belts.....YAY Grocery OUTLET!!!! But seriously, thank you to all of you who have been reaching out and caring and being worried about us, we appreciate all of your love!

Official Recession Hits Us!

So officially yesterday it was announced that the US was in a recession. Really? It took a whole year to determine that? Well....it didn't take T-Mobile long. Yesterday at 2:30pm, Walter and nine other guys were called into a meeting to tell them "their services were no longer needed". So in a way Walter lost his job, but only with T-Mobile, it's part of some big restructuring thing there. We don't know what this will mean at the moment. He's actually in a meeting as I type this down at the Denali offices. Hopefully they will help find these 10 guys jobs somewhere else!! If not we are back to the drawing boards to find him a job....hopefully we don't have to go back again to Office Depot...hehe, although third time is a charm :-) Oh well, hopefully this time it will help to make our relationship stronger as we will have to tighten our belts!

BTW Thanks to everyone who has called or e-mailed us with concern! We really appreciate it. Walter did finish updating his resume last night, so if you hear of anything, he would be more than willing to pass it on! Loves to all!
